The Hunter/woodsman

With Once Upon a Time finished and up for sale,
(http://onceuponatime.wakinggames.com/)
the desire to make a sequel is painfully hard to ignore, especially when there's so much that can be done with such a great concept.

Where in the first game characters were chosen more as general archetype's, the Hunter (or woodsman) is fairly specific to Little Red Ridding Hood and maybe one or two other tales. my biggest concern with his design is making sure that players know exactly who he is and what he's about when the see him.

The axe is pretty straightforward (and yes i know about the wonky perspective) but i think i need to actually say that he's holding a bear-trap(upside-down) in his right hand. i've gone through quite a bit of reference and this seems to be the most common design, i think if the chance to actually make the game comes about i'll go for the more stylised Resident Evil 4 version, where it's just the teeth rings on a chain.

i've tried for a more loose/cartoon style for the image itself, which i think has turned out pretty damned good as well

thanks for your time
any thoughts or comments would be great
